Crisis fosters are fosters who can't foster all of the time, but are willing to foster in certain situations. We would call on a crisis foster to help us if we have an unexpected situation that is a matter of life or death. This could be a situation like hurricane Katrina, a police seizure of a large number of animals or if we are the last chance for a large number of very adoptable dogs and cats. We are often forced to play "Sophie's Choice" at kill shelters. When faced with twenty puppies and the ability to take 2, we realize we need to have a network in place to be able to do more. This is where the crisis foster would spring into action. You would have the same responsibility of a regular foster, but on a more temporary basis. If you would be willing to be a crisis foster, you can fill out an application on-line and we will contact you when the situation arises. Having to pick who gets a second chance and who doesn't is not a choice we want to make. While we know we can't help everyone, we always want to help whomever we can.
